More about what Prodest is...

PRODEST reflects the spirit of our developing working world . It uses the power of Digital Story Telling, to bring to life, the entrepreneurs journey.

While many young people are unsure about the difference paths they could take in the world of work, one of the options open to them, is to take up the challenge and go it alone, as an entrepreneur.

Setting up a new business is an exciting prospect, but needs careful thinking about and some help and support on hand.

PRODEST is funded by the EU. There are 5 organisations for France, Poland, Slovakia, Spain and UK. Young people between the ages of 18-25 travelled to UK to learn video making; returning to their own countries to interview and film 15 entrepreneurs.

Working with the young ,'would be entrepreneurs' themselves, PRODEST produced a broad range of videos from each country. These show entrepreneurs who have already taken the plunge and have developed their business. They are in a position to explain, first hand, the challenges they faced, how they have overcome them and what they have learnt and still have to learn along the way. There is a handbook of useful short and easy to manage online workshops as well as information and connections.

There is an emphasis in building on the skills the entrepreneurs have already, as well as their sense of initiative and encourages an honest appraisal of what needs to be done, to turn an idea into a successful start up business.

Trainers, colleges and youth leaders will also find this useful place to find training material and new idea as well as a place to direct their students.

Promoting Youth Entrepreneurship with Digital Storytelling

The European Key Competences Framework defines SIE (sense of initiative and entrepreneurship ) as an individual's ability to turn ideas into action. It includes creativity, innovation and risk-taking, as well as the ability to plan and manage projects in order to achieve objectives.

Entrepreneurship is a competence for everyone, helping people to be more creative and self-confident in whatever they undertake.

Even if entrepreneurship is recognized as a powerful driver of economic growth and job creation, the uptake and the effectiveness of entrepreneurship education in Europe are still far from being fully satisfactory. This is mainly due to lack of suitable materials and lack of skills in trainers.

Given this context, PRODEST project propose to develop a methodology and tools for development of SIE in youths through storytelling bringing together the rational and the emotional, and eliciting identification and emulation in the listener.
